Fund Formation
We represented a syndicate of institutional investors, including Business Development Bank of Canada, Export Development Canada, Teralys Capital and B.C. Renaissance Capital Fund in the first closing of Tandem Expansion Fund I, L.P. of $300 million on November 26, 2009. The Fund, which is capped at $500 million will invest from $10 to $40 million in a portfolio of established companies which require growth or expansion capital. It was founded and will be managed by a team led by two of Canada’s most experienced private equity and venture capital investors, Brent Belzberg and Charles Sirois.
